The Pool Villa Privacy Checklist
A private pool is only private if sightlines, staff paths, landscaping, and neighboring balconies have all been handled.
Privacy is architectural
Private pool is one of the loosest phrases in hotel copy. It can mean a walled courtyard, or it can mean a plunge pool visible from three balconies and a service path. The difference is not mood. It is architecture.
Ask for sightlines
Send these four questions before you book, in this order:
- Can neighboring villas or balconies see into the pool, and from which floor?
- Do staff pass the terrace on their service route, and at what hours?
- When does the pool actually get sun — morning, afternoon, or a narrow hour in between?
- If the category has several positions, which villa numbers are being held for you?
Ask for the resort map when the answers stay general. Garden villas are often quieter than oceanfront villas with foot traffic below, which is the opposite of what the rate card implies.
The best version
The best pool villa has shade without gloom, outdoor seating that works after sunset, a shower that prevents wet footprints across the room, and room service that can arrive without turning the terrace into a stage.
Privacy is the luxury. The pool is only the proof.
